The first time I saw this mall back in the 1970s it was packed with stores from end to end. As time went on the stores began to disappear, with some being covered over with blank walls. There was a 2 screen movie theater and it closed down too. This is an updated video of the mall made with a much better camera than I had the last time. There is some hope for this mall known as Place De Ville however as it will hold a station for the new underground train system being built in Ottawa. This should bring in a steady stream of customers to jump start some life back into this once great mall. In the mean time this is an easy destination for urban exploration.
When I first saw this place in the 1970's it was filled with classy expensive stores. The mall was supposed to be just like the underground malls of Montreal. It has been going down hill ever since. This mall is a kiss of death for any business trying to locate here. Over time as stores go out of business the entrances are dry walled over. All those nice walls you see have sealed up stores behind them.

Using a small camera on a long poll to explore an underground bunker has been sealed off for 60 years. This is an update to a video I made 3 years ago. Since then the bunker is crumbling and the opening has been enlarged by unknown people. I expect that this will be demolished in a couple of years. This structure resembles a fall out shelter, or nuclear atomic bomb shelter, but it was used to store vegetables by the nearby missionary school run by the White Fathers in Vanier. We will return again for more urban exploration if the opening becomes large enough for us to fit through.

Philip playing an original on Sparks Street. I told him I'd ship the guitar to Edmonton if he won. Frankly, deadly song, I think he'd deserve it. What is Musical Underground Ottawa, you ask? Using a small camera on a long pole to see inside a sealed off underground bunker. Nobody has been inside this bunker since it was sealed off 60 years ago. This bunker may have been used as a backyard bomb shelter, a burial crypt for dead bodies, a wine cellar, or cold storage for vegetables.
